    Hi BFD Members, we invite you to join us to celebrate some "sweet" events being held at the Meadery during August and September which is National Honey month. 

    TONIGHT Thursday 8/1 we kick off at 7pm with a Meadmakers Meal 4 course dinner: 2 Entrees, 2 Sides, 2 Salads and Dessert made with and paired with meads. $35 pp. Option to enjoy a glass of your best choice of samples for $5. Check our Facebook page for menu.

    8/2: DEATH By Chocolate: Presentation on history of chocolate and mead and pairings. $15pp.

    8/3: NATIONAL MEAD DAY: 4 Sessions

    11am - Intro to Meadmaking: FREE!

    Noon: Guest Speaker Laura Agnotti will present The Myth And Magic of Mead - Ancient mead recipes. FREE!

    2pm - Advanced Mead Techniques. FREE!

    3pm - Blending & Judging Mead $100 pp.. Limited space. Our Internationally renowned mead maker, Michael Fairbrother, will walk you through the process of how to take a mead that isn’t quite where it should be and help make it something that shines! This is a class for both amateurs and the mead geeks alike… no assumptions, just great results. Included in the class will be a sampling of some mead that's been cellared for the past 9 years. Seating is limited to just 30 tickets. What’s included in this class: a tasting of two unblended meads, and then the resulting blended mead, plus a session on how to judge meads. Michael is a nationally ranked BJCP beer and mead judge. He’s lectured on mead making/judging in Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Australia, and all over the United States. Each participant will get a bottle of mead, and a keep sake glassware with purchase.

    8/15: Tentative Mead Cocktails and Appetizers: $15pp

    8/17 NATIONAL HONEYBEE DAY: Guest speaker Laura Agnotti will present The Myth & Magic of Mead - Ancient Mead recipes. The honey bar will feature honey from around the world. FREE!

    8/29: Let's Call The Whole Thing Off! Cheese, honey & mead pairing. How to make a presentable cheese board. $15pp.

    The cut-over to the new website took place on 2/23.  Our new website is part of the Wild Apricot club membership system that in addition to providing this member interactive website, it will manager our club memberships, payments, handle our events, online store (coming soon!) and provide a forum areas.  

    Some general forum areas have been setup to get started.  You can subscribe to and receive weekly, daily or instant updates for those topic areas you are interested in.
