Stating in 2007, back before the craft beer revolution, before COVID, and nearly to the start of the Internet as we know it, the competition was born as a memorial fundraiser after the losing a member of the club to cancer. Since that first competition it has expanded in both size and charitable giving. The largest entry field to date has been 450 entries, that's a truck load of beer. The profits from the competition continue to be split between cancer research and regional food banks.
