Bulk Buy

Brew Free or Die conducts bulk orders of grain, hops and chemicals twice each year, in February and in September. Bulk buys can result in substantial savings, and are open ONLY to BFD members  . Once the bulk buy is open, a  Google docs spreadsheet will be shared with all club members via the club listserv and Facebook page.  Questions to  Adam Goff at: acgoff at gmail dot com

Barrel Project

Periodically BFD will purchase a used 52 gallon spirits barrel (usually Bourbon or other whiskey) for aging beer.  Club members may sign up to contribute beer to the barrel for secondary aging.  The beer must be made from the same recipe (to be agreed upon by the participants) and will be in the barrel for 2-6 months, depending on the age of the barrel, beer style, and desired level of barrel character.  Participants typically can expect to get back less than they contribute due to evaporation and absorption by the barrel, as well as the difficulty in draining every drop.  Questions to  david.rosenbaum84 at gmail dot com

Big Brew Day

The American Homebrewers Association (AHA) sponsors a “Big Brew Day” every year, on the First Saturday in May.  BFD participates in the day regularly, and members often bring friends interested in learning how to brew.  Non-members who have an interest are also encouraged to attend.  More information will be published on the site as the date approaches. Questions to  info at bfd dot org
